Anaïs Jarnoux & Samuel Tomatis

Jarnoux Tomatis

Anaïs Jarnoux and Samuel Tomatis are two unique figures in the fields of design and contemporary craft. Their collaboration results from a meeting between traditional craftsmanship and innovation, with a special focus on eco-design and material transformation. Samuel Tomatis, a graduate of ENSCI in 2016, develops a committed design approach centered on marine resources, specifically algae. He explores the potential of this natural material in an eco-design approach, collaborating with scientists and artisans. His research, focusing on interdisciplinarity, questions the links between science, craft, industry, ecology, and design, while highlighting a little-explored resource: algae. After fifteen years of experience in traditional upholstery at the Maison Brazet, Anaïs Jarnoux joined the Paris incubator "Ateliers de Paris" in 2017. This experience gave her the opportunity to collaborate for the first time with designers in contemporary creation. In 2022, they won the Bettencourt-Schueller Prize for Intelligence of the Hand in the Dialogues category, which rewards their approach combining science, craft, and design with a forward-looking vision, an alternative eco-design solution to resource depletion.
