Rosana Escobar

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, and after living in Amsterdam and Berlin, Rosana Escobar now lives and works in Barichara, a community village in Colombia. As a textile designer, she explores the creative potential of natural fibres and materials, particularly agave fibre. A graduate of the Design Academy in Eindhoven (Netherlands) and in Biology from the University of the Andes in Bogotá, Rosana Escobar approaches materials as living ecosystems. Her practice consists of investigating the processes of harvesting, transformation and manipulation in order to reveal new formal opportunities as they undergo metamorphosis, in collaboration with local communities.
